William J. Vodenichar, of 278 Charleston Rd., Sharpsville, PA died peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at 2:57 a.m. at Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. He was 85.
Bill was born in Sharon, PA on March 20, 1927, the son of the late Frank and Rosena (Hug) Vodenichar. He was a 1945 graduate of Sharon High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He was a member of Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Sharon, PA., where he had been a Deacon, who went on Mission trips and drove the church bus for Summer's Best Two Weeks program for several years.
Bill had worked as corrections officer at the State Regional Correctional Facility in Mercer, PA., for 10 years before retiring. He also drove school bus for Watson's Inc. in Hermitage and had worked at the former Westinghouse Plant in Sharon.
Being an outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter in his younger years and belonged the the Western Reserve. He also enjoyed square dancing, golfing, and woodworking. He was a member of and was Past Master of F.&A.M. Lodge# 250, now Kedron Lodge # 389 of West Middlesex, PA.
He was the husband of Betty J. (Schwartz) Vodenichar. whom he married on June 22, 1968. She survives at home. Bill is also survived by his daughter, Paula Glunt and her husband, Chad of State College, PA and his son, William Vodenichar and his wife, Paulette, of Aliso Viejo, CA and his grandchildren, Brenna Collard, Brent Vodenichar, Andrew Glunt, and Emily Glunt and his great- grandchildren ; Seth, Gavin, and Rebecca Collard. His sister, Rosemary Simmons and her husband Robert of Sunbury, PA.and his brother, James Vodenichar of Sandy Lake, PA., also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceeded in death by an infant twin brother, Frederick, who died at birth.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012 from 2-5:00 p.m.. at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146. A Masonic Service presented by F.&A.M., Kedron Lodge # 389 in his honor will take place at 4:45 p.m. in the funeral home.
Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, PA. at 11:00a.m. on Monday, August 27th, with Rev. Christopher Mathewson of the church officiating.
Interment at Mt. Washington Cemetery , Jefferson twp., PA.
