Mr. William H. "Bill" Nightwine Sr., 81, Pompano Beach, FL. passed away on September 1, 2011 in Alpharetta, Georgia. Mr. Nightwine Sr. was born in San Antonio, TX on March 16, 1930, the son of the late Harold Weaver Nightwine Sr. and Elma Belle (McConnell) Nightwine.
He was a graduate of Hickory High School and the State University of New York at Morrisville where he had excelled in football, basketball, and baseball and was awarded the Outstanding Athlete of the Year. He served in the U.S. Army as a PFC in the Korean Conflict.
He founded at Nightwine Company LLC Ft. Lauderdale, FL.,a private investigating and insurance adjustment firm. He also had owned and raced sulky horses under Nightwine Stables in Pompano Beach, Florida. He was a Freemason along with being an avid boater and a lifetime member of Riverside Yacht Club in Essington, PA.
He was the widower of Virginia (Tegler) Nightwine. who died in 2008. His first wife, the former Mary T. (Stellabott) Nightwine died in 1970.
He is survived by three daughters, Linda Lyons and her husband Wayne, of Media, PA, Nancy Branyan of Marathon, FL. and Lorrie Fleming and her husband John, of Alpharetta, GA. and one son, William H. Nightwine Jr.and his wife Jean , of Middletown, PA. Also surviving are a brother, Harold Nightwine and his wife Nancy, of Hershey, PA. and half-brothers Carson, Edward, and Rex and half-sisters, Gayle and Holly.
He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
