Dr. William W. "Bill" "Pete" Peters, Greenville, PA, formerly of Transfer and Hermitage, passed away peacefully at 12:45 p.m., in St. Paul's Continuing Care Community in Greenville, after an extended illness. He was 88.
Bill was born in Greenville, PA on July 31, 1927, the son of the late Frank and Lurleen (Shollenberger) Peters. He was a graduate of Stoneboro High School , Grove City College and the Pennsylvania School of Optometry. He served his country from 1945 to 1947 during WWII , being in the U.S. Navy.
He was a longtime member of Hickory United Methodist Church in Hermitage, where he had sung in the choir and served on various boards over the years.
Bill was an optometrist practicing in the Shenango Valley for over 45 years. He was a member of the F.& A.M. Hermitage Lodge #810 and was a former member of the Hermitage Rotary Club. Bill was a hunter and wildlife enthusiast, a gardener, and enjoyed photography. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
He was the husband of Mary Suzanne "Sue" (Driscoll) Peters. whom he married on Feb. 7, 1981. She survives him at home in Transfer. His first wife, the former Shirley Dufford Peters passed away on Nov. 29, 1979. Also surviving are his daughter, Susan L. Lusk and her husband, Daniel, two grandchildren, Sarah and Timothy Lusk, four step-sons, David Vermeire, Daniel Vermeire and his wife, Melody, Drew Vermeire and his wife, Laura, , and Dean Vermeire and his wife, Lisa. He is also survived by 7 step-grandchildren, and 3 step-great grandchildren.

At his request there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at the Hickory United Methodist Church, Hermitage, PA. at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, June 25th, 2016, with Rev. David Evans officiating. Interment at Morefield Cemetery Hermitage, PA.
