Watson H. Shipley, age 72, of 1847 Powers Ave., Sharpsville, PA passed away peacefully on Wed. August 29, 2012. at 2:48 a.m. in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA after a brief illness.
Mr. Shipley was born in Mann twp., PA on November 21, 1939, the son of the late Stanley R. and Mabel I. (Akers) Shipley. He had served in the U.S. Army. having been stationed in Germany.
Watson had worked as a truck driver at Paul's Beverage New Castle,PA.. He had also worked as a truck driver for the former Interstate Motor Freight and the former Halls Motor Freight companies. He was a former member of Teamsters Union #261, New Castle, PA. he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, watching NASCAR & Sprint car races, and spending time with his family.
He was the husband of Nancy E. (Rowser) (Edwards) Shipley. whom he married on May 3, 1996. She survives at home. Also surviving are his daughter, Malinda Hawkins of Booneville, IN., and his son, Brian Shipley and his wife, Missy, of Greenville, PA.and two step-sons, Chuck Edwards and his wife , Tammy,of Mercer,PA., Kelly Edwards and his wife, Dodi, of Warren, OH. along with his 4 sisters, Ruth Clingerman and her husband, Addison, of Akron,OH., Evelyn Casey an her husband, Arthur of Bedford, PA., Irma Edwards of Mercer,PA., Shirley Robinson and her husband, Mike of Mattie,PA, and one brother, Wayne Shipley of Littlestown,PA. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceeded in death by a sister, Mary Shipley, and two brothers, Marshall and Glenn Shipley.
Donations in his memory may be made to SRHS Hospice and Palliative Care, 2320 Highland Rd, Hermitage, PA 16148.
At his request there will be no calling hours. Cremation services provided by the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held at Fairview Christian Church, Mann twp.,(Bedford Co.) PA. at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, September 8th, 2012, with Rev. Milton Morris of the Fairview Christian Church officiating.
Interment at Fairview Cemetery Mann twp., PA.
