Walter F. Dunlavey, of Sharon, PA, passed away on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at 1:12 p.m., at UPMC Horizon Hospital Farrell, after an extended illness. He was 73
Walter was born in Sharon, PA on November 18, 1941, the son of the late James H. and Grace F. (Frank) Dunlavey. He was a 1959 graduate of Sharpsville High School and went on to graduate from Grove City College in 1963. He later earned his Juris Doctorate in law from Val Paraso Law School.
He had worked as a professor teaching law at Westminster College New Wilmington, PA. for a few years. Previously, he retired as a major in the U.S. Air Force after serving his country for 20 years.
Being a music lover, he enjoyed attending concerts in Pittsburgh. He dearly loved his 4 dogs. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sharon.
Walter was the husband of Joan (Griffith) Dunlavey. whom he married on December 31, 2002. She survives at home. He is also survived by his daughter, Patricia Hill, and her husband, Christopher, of Seatle, WA, and his son, James T. Dunlavey, and his wife, Lone, of Fairfield, CT along with his grandchildren, Sophia and Zachary Hill, and his step-grandson, Elias Weglarz, and his brother, Keith Dunlavey of Mississippi. Walter will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

Funeral service at the First Presbyterian Church, Sharon, PA. at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 12th, with Pastor Dave Lingle officiating. Military Honors presented at the church by the Wheatland American Legion, Post 432, the Farrell VFW Post #5286 & the West Middlesex VFW, Post 6233, Honor Guard. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery Hermitage, PA.
