Victoria E. Daugherty, of 1236 Stanton Street, Sharon, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, October 3, 2012. She was 87.
Victoria was born in Wheatland, PA on was born on September 19, 1925, the daughter of the late Frank and Frances Kryzic Novak. She was a graduate of Hickory High School.
She worked as a cost analyst at the former Westinghouse in Sharon for over 27 years. After retirement, Victoria worked at the Registration Office in Mercer County Courthouse and was Judge of Elections in the the 2-4 precinct for several years. Being active in the Democratic Party, she was a Democratic Committee woman for over 30 years, and was named "Democrat of the Year " in 2010. She also was a member of the 50 Year Voter Hall of Fame.
Being very dedicated to her church and community, she was a very active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Sharon for over 60 years serving in various capacities including being a Eucharistic minister for several years and was a member of the Christian Associates, The Jewish/Christian Dialogue, and the Community of the Holy Spirit. She was a Sharon Regional Health System Volunteer for several years and in 2010, was named "Volunteer of the Year".
Victoria is survived by her daughter, Deborah J. Currier and her husband, James of Hermitage, PA, her two grandsons, Ryan Ganz of Attleboro, MA and Daniel Currier of Hermitage, PA along with her 3 sisters, Mildred Lemos, of Sharon, PA, Bertha Yanta, of Lawrenceville, NJ, and Esther Novak, of Wheatland, PA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides her parents, she was preceeded in death by her son, Kim F. Daugherty, her former husband, Ellis Daugherty, her two brothers, Victor and Albert Novak, and her four sisters, Alice, Frances, Norma, and Mary.
Donations in her memory may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, 226 West State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, from 2:00 till 4:00 p.m. in the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 E. State St, Sharon, PA 16146.
Funeral service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church in Sharon, at 11:00 a.m., on Monday. Oct, 8, 2012, with Rev. Adam T. Trambley officiating. Inurnment at St.. John's Episcopal Church Columbarium . Cremation services provided by the funeral home.
