Vera R. Lartz, of. Sharon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday , June 3, 2015 at 5:45p.m. in Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. She was 98..
Vera was born in Turtle Creek, PA, on January 26, 1917, the daughter of the late John Forgie Jr. and Rebecca (Carothers) Forgie. She was a 1934 graduate of Sharon High School.
She was a 50 plus year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sharon, PA. Vera had worked many years ago at at The Herald Sharon, in the advertising department.
She was a life member of the former SRHS Auxiliary and a life member of Penn State Alumni Association, a member Emeritus of the Advisory Board of Penn State-Shenango, a charter member of the President's Club of Penn State, and was inducted into the Mt. Nittany Society. She was also a past board member of the Oakwood Cemetery Association. Vera enjoyed her association with the Penn State Shenango Campus, especially in support of the Lartz Memorial Library and campus renovations.
She was the widow of Robert E. Lartz M.D., whom she married in 1940. He died in 1986. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Lartz , of Hermitage, PA three grandchildren, Robert Zaremba, Hermitage, PA, Thomas Zaremba Jr. and his wife, Amanda, of Cinncinati, OH, and Stacey Ludwig, of Sharon, PA. and three great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Collin, and Julia Zaremba. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, J. Russell Forgie and J. Donald Forgie.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Lartz Memorial Libary, c/o Penn State Shenango, 147 Shenango Ave., Sharon, PA 16146 or to Buhl Farm Park,c/o Buhl Farm Trustees, 715 Hazen Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.
At her request there will be no calling hours. Private graveside prayer services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Oakwood Cemetery with . David M. Davis , Pastor, officiating.. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery Hermitage, PA.
