Thomas V. Gross, age 95, of Hermitage, formerly of S. Pymatuning twp., passed away on Thursday, March 22nd, 2018, in Sharon Regional Medical Center. Born November 9, 1922 in New York City, NY, he was the son of the late Daniel Gross Sr. and Helen Mattes Gross. He married the former Joan P. Farrelly on Oct. 9, 1948 and she preceded him in death on Sept. 5th, 2015. Thomas worked as a self-employed union carpenter. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II serving from 1943-1936.
Thomas liked to play golf and belonged to the Sharon Elks Golf League. He was a lifetime member of the Sharon Elks where he served as Past Exalted Ruler and a member of the Sharpsville V.F.W. #6404. He also was a member of the Church of Notre Dame.
Thomas is survived by two daughters, Susan Marx of Norfolk, VA and Cynthia Kautzman and husband Larry, of S. Pymatuning twp., PA, and four sons, John "Jack" Gross and wife Debbie, of Norfolk, VA, Thomas "Tommy" Gross and wife Olivia, of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Richard Gross and his wife Andrea, of S. Pymatuning twp., PA, and William "Billy" Gross and wife Christina of Burghill, OH along with 10 grandchildren, Melanie East, Sarah Pifer, Steven Marx, Sheila Farr, Emily Hoffman, Courtney Vincelette, Michelle Teri, David Gross, Mackenzie Gross, and Bryce Gross and 4 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Rachel, and Abram Pifer and Scarlett Marx.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Thomas was preceded in death by his daughter, Judith Ann Gross, a sister, Mildred Roach, and two brothers, Daniel Jr. and George Gross.
Visitation will take on Sunday, March 25, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. at the Harold W. Stevenson LLC, 264 East State Street, Sharon, PA 16146. A procession will leave the funeral home on Monday at 9:30 a.m. for a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Notre Dame in Hermitage, with Father Richard Allen officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hermitage.
