Dr. Siegfried William Amundsen

Dr. Siegfried William Amundsen, of Hermitage, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at 10:48 a.m. in Sharon Regional Health System, after a brief illness. He was 91.
Dr. Amundsen was born in Ellwood City, PA on June 1, 1925, the son of the late Torbjorn and Rosa (Wimmer) Amundsen. He was a 1943 graduate of Sharon High School and attended Youngstown State College from 1944 to 1946 and then graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps as a 1st Lieutenant from 1953-1955 during the Korean Conflict.
William was a dentist at his office in Sharon and then later in Hermitage. for 40 years. He also served for many years as School Dentist for the Sharon, Sharpsville, and Hermitage School Districts.
William was a member of the F. & A. M. Lodge #668 (now #810 ) of Hermitage since 1971, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of New Castle, the Masonic Lodge of Nettles Island, FL, the Hermitage VFW # 6166, and the National American Legion. He enjoyed sailing with his sons, camping travels through 46 states, traveling through Europe, China, and South Africa, along with taking cruises and spending time with his family.
He was the husband of Ingeborg "Inge" V. (Brand) Amundsen, whom he married in Frankfort, Germany, on June 14, 1954. She survives him at home in Hermitage. Also surviving are his sons, Thomas W. Amundsen (Mercer County Controller) and his wife, Barbara "Babs" Quincy, of Hermitage, PA, Jeffrey K. Amundsen and his wife, Mary, of Park City, Utah and his daughters, Amy J. Amundsen and her husband, Judge Robert L. Childers, of Memphis, TN and Dr. Cindy L. Amundsen and her husband, Dr. George Webster, of Chapel Hill, NC and one granddaughter, Isabella V. Amundsen, and one great-grandson, Oliver Q. Little.
Donations in his memory may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 600 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146 or to the Shenango Valley River Watchers Inc., 730 Forker Blvd., Hermitage, PA 16148.
At his request there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Sharon, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7th, 2016, with Rev Dr. Glen Hink of the church officiating. Interment at America's Cemetery, Hermitage.
