Shirley C. Van Horn, of Masury, OH, formerly of Wheatland, PA, passed away on Sat. Dec. 2, 2017, at O'Brien Memorial Nursing Home in Masury after an extended illness. She was 80.
Shirley was born in Sharon, PA on July 17, 1937, the daughter of the late William R. Daugherty Sr. and Catherine (Morris) Daugherty. She was a 1955 graduate of Brookfield High School.
She was a member of Wheatland-Farrell United Methodist Church Wheatland, PA., where she had served as secretary of the United Methodist Women's Group.
Shirley had worked as a dietary aide at The Ridgewood of the Shenango Valley for several years. Previously, she had worked at the Italian Home in Farrell as a waitress for 15 years..
In her spare Shirley enjoyed reading, sewing and crafts along with spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Doreen Gregory of Masury, OH, her sons John Van Horn of Pittsburgh, PA., Daniel Van Horn of Utah and Michael Van Horn and his wife Kathy of Sharpsville, PA her nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Arlene Sweeney and her husband Ron, of Carlisle, PA, and Lynda Santilli and her husband Pete, of Hermitage, PA and two brothers, William R. Daugherty Jr. and his wife Beverly, of Hermitage, PA and Bruce Daugherty and his wife Cathy, of Masury, OH. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Stinedurf and a brother, Wayne Daugherty.
