Shirley J. Skibo, age 83, of 110 Fredonia Rd. Greenville, PA, formerly of McKelvey Lane, Sharon, PA passed away peacefully, Wednesaday, March 14, 2012, at 2:25 p.m, at Whitecliff Nursing Home in Greenville, PA after an extended illness.
Shirley was born in Wheatland, PA on August 3, 1928, the daughter of the late William R. and Maude (Hamlin) Lloyd. She was a 1946 graduate of Farrell High School.
She was a charter member New Life Baptist Church, New Wilmington, PA. Shirley had worked as an office worker at the former Southside Market in Masury, OH.,Previously, she, along with her husband, had co-owned the former Skibo Sales in Sharon, one of the first discount stores in the area . She attended the Shenango Valley Senior Center in Hermitage and the Salvation Army Seniors Group in Sharon. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family especially her grandsons baseball games.
She was the widow of Stephen Skibo. whom she married on June 5, 1946. He died in 1984. Her survivors include her daughter, Sherry Ehrhart and her husband William, of Farrell, PA. and two sons, Stephen "Al" A. Skibo and his wife Janet, of Hermitage, PA.,and Richard M. Skibo and his wife, Betty, of Sharpsville, PA. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Craig and Brian Skibo, Nicole Lawrence and Daniel Popa, John, Richie, and Mike Skibo and a step-grandaughter, Melssa Glenn and 3 great-grandchildren, Keirsten Lawrence, Noah Skibo and Ava Popa and two step-great grandchildren, Alexis and Maya Glenn. Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceeded in death by her 4 sisters, Dorothy Edwards, Virginia Thomas, Wilma Leipheimer, and Jean Krvar and one brother, William R. Lloyd.
