Shirley Ann Miller McDonald, 90, died early on the morning of June 1 at the Sharon Regional Medical Center in Mercer County.
Born November 29, 1927, in Sharpsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late George Y. Miller and Lena Redmond Miller of Sharpsville.
She is survived by Step-daughter Judy McDonald; Nephews David G. Burger, Terry W. Burger, Tom Miller, Kurt Wiesen, Rick Lenzi, Gary Lenzi and John Lenzi; Nieces Beverly Lazor Maio, Barbara Lazor, Debra McDonald Bobish, Kelly McDonald Guido, Wendy McDonald Chapin, Lynne Miller Neu, and by many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis "Corky" McDonald in 1982, by her sisters Audrene Miller Batten, Pauline Miller Wiesen, and Martha Jane Miller Burger, by brothers, Tom and Chauncey L. "Bing" Miller, by in-laws James and Mary McDonald, nephews Jimmy Lazor and John "Jackie" Curtis Lazor, brothers-in-law Phillip McDonald and Gordon McDonald, and by sisters-in-law Virginia McDonald Lazor and Marie McDonald Lenzi.
Shirley was a graduate of Sharpsville High School, and received various other training throughout her long life, from business and metallurgy technology to training to be a hospice volunteer, a service she rendered for some years before her final retirement.
She was heavily involved in her church for decades, including as a member of St. John's Episcopal Church Women, a member of the altar guild, and as a volunteer for Episcopal Community Services. She also served on the search committee that called the current priest, the Reverend Adam T. Trambley, to serve.
She worked for Sharon Steel for 46 years.
She and Corky were married for 26 years. They had no children.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at St John's Episcopal Church, 226 West State Street, Sharon, PA 16146, with Father Adam Trambley as celebrant.
Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home LLC, 264 E. State Street, Sharon Pa. 16146.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the church, at 226 West State Street
