Shirley S. Heasley

Shirley S. Heasley of Hermitage, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her family on March 13, 2017 in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 84.
Shirley was born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 12, 1932 to the late Ray A. and Jean (Shuttleworth) Maxwell. She grew up in Sharon and graduated in 1950 from Sharon High School. She went on to graduate for the Sharon General Hospital School of Nursing in 1953.
Shirley spent a total of 42 years as a registered nurse at Sharon Regional. She was selected and specifically trained as a nurse anesthetist and loved working in the operating room. In later years, she provided nursing care in the mental health unit of the hospital. Until burdened with failing health, she was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sharon, teaching Sunday school and participating in numerous ministries of the church.
What Shirley enjoyed most was being surrounded by family, spending time with her grandchildren, flowers, music, nature and watching medical dramas. Her mind remained sharp until the end doing crossword puzzles and solving riddles.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother to her family which includes her husband Leroy W. Heasley of Hermitage, her daughter Susan Formichella and her husband, Mark, of Lackawannock twp., PA, her two sons, Phillip Heasley of Madison, OH, and Peter Heasley and his wife Melinda, Of Leonardtown, MD, and her four grandchildren, Matthew and Stephen Formichella and Sarah and Rebecca Heasley. She is also survived by her brother, David Maxwell, of Westminster, CO. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Maxwell.

Friends are invited yo call on Saturday, March 18, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. till Noon, at the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Funeral service at Noon on Saturday at the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, in Sharon, with the Rev. Dr. Philip Makari, Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church Officiating. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery in Sharon.
