Sara R. Crawford, of 26 Stone Ridge Blvd., Hermitage, PA, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, March, 3, 2015 at 3:11 p.m. after a brief illness. She was 91.
Sara was born in Mercer, PA on June 10, 1923, the daughter of the late Frank and Cora (Wilson) Cousins.
She attended Mercer schools growing up.
She was an active member of Charleston United Methodist Church Hermitage, PA., where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women, and had been a member of the choir and was an accompianist of the choir.
Sara was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star #180, the El Bika Grotto where she was a Grottoette, and the United Commercial Travelers. Music was a big part of her life as she could play several instruments including organ and piano. She also loved to do crafts.
She was the widow of Ralph W. Crawford. whom she married on May 11, 1942. He died on November 12, 2002. She is survived by her three daughters, Shirley McCandless of Hendersonville,TN., Roberta Bolton and her husband David, of Port Charlotte, FL, and Karen Palmer and her husband, Richard, of Hermitage, PA. along with three grandchildren, Lori Hayden, Bruce McCandless, and Kelley McCandless Hill and four great-grandchildren, Kendall, Carter, and Cooper McCandless and Sara Hill. She is also survived by her brother, Gerald Cousins and his wife, Bonnie, of Sharpsville, PA, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Gary McCandless and two sisters and four brothers.
