Ruth Ann Gartner, 73, of 8055 Addison Rd. SE, Masury, OH, formerly of Riverview Manor in Sharon, PA , died peacefully of Sunday evening, July 31, 2011 at 6:35 p.m. at Orange Village Care Center in Masury, after a courageous battle with an extended illness. Ruth was born in Farrell, PA on June 3, 1938, the daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie(Napierkoski) Hoyney. She was a 1956 graduate of Farrell High School. Ruth was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sharon where she belonged to the Altar Guild. She had worked as a cook at Denny's in Hermitage and at Tony's Pizza in Sharon. In her younger years, she had worked at the former Westinghouse Plant in Sharon. She enjoyed walking, camping, and watching NASCAR races. She was a very loving and caring person whose greatest joy was spending time with her family. Ruth is survived by two sons, Richard J. Gartner and his companion, Sheila Roberts, of Sharpsville, PA , Randy J. Gartner and his wife Wanda, of Pulaski, PA, along with two grandchildren, Randi Elizabeth Ippolito and her husband, Matt of Pittsburgh, PA and Jake Gartner and his fiancee', Monica Mason of Hermitage, Pa. Also survivng are three sisters, Norma Jean Ferringer and her husband, Howard and Patricia Voytik and her husband, Donald all of Geneva on the Lake, OH and Susan Bostocky and her husband, Jerry, of Canfield, OH along with her aunt, Frances Sass and her husband, Cornell of Warren, OH and a cousin, Betty Frye, of Wheatland, PA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides her parents, she was preceeded in death by her daughter, Wendy Sue Gartner. The family would like to thank the staff of Orange Village Care Center for the wonderful care she received during her illness. Friends are invited to call Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State Street, Sharon, PA 16146. Funeral service on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 699 Stambaugh Ave., Sharon, PA 16146 with Rev. Jeff Harter of the church officiating. Interment aOakwood Cemetery in Hermitage. Donations in her memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
