Russell L. Custer

Russell L. Custer, 91, formerly of Masury, OH. passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 22nd 2018 at the Grove in New Wilmington.

Russell was born in Ford City, PA on January 29, 1927, the son of the late Joseph h and Mary (Libich) Custer. He married the former Dorothy Poweski on February 24, 1948 and she preceded him in death on January 18, 1975.

Russell served in the U.S. Army as a Pvt in WW II.

He worked as a Laborer at Simon Brothers Scrapyard for many years before retiring.
Russell was a member of the Shepherd of the Valley Church.
He Liked Gardening .
He is survived by 9 children
Daughter(s):  Ruth E. and her husband William Hawkins of Masury, Ohio.
Nettie E. Phillips of Sharon, Pennsylvania.
Mary W. and her husband William McKelvey of Masury, Ohio.
Patricia A. Gera of Sharon, Pennsylvania.
Debbie L. and her husband Mitchell Nicholl of Brookfield, Ohio.
Roberta D. Henry of Masury, Ohio.
Son(s):  Russell J and his wife Sandy Custer of Clintonville, Pa.., Arthur B. Custer of Masury, Ohio and, Stephen L. and his wife Diana Custer of Warren, Ohio.
Survived also by 36 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by 2 daughters Geneva Custer and Kathryn Kurtz, a son Calvin Custer, five brothers and 5 sisters.
Visitation will be held  Thursday from 5-7 PM.  at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home LLC, 264 E. State Street, Sharon Pa. 16146

A funeral service will be held immediately following at 7:00 pm at the funeral Home,  with Pastor Charles Dahlstrom officiating.

Burial will be in Westside Cemetery, S. Pymatuming Township.
The family invites everyone to join them on Saturday, July, 28, 2018 at Ruth Hawkin's home 8137 Diamond Street, Masury, Ohio at 2:00PM for a family reunion.
