Robert M. Whetsel

Robert M. Whetsel, of Farrell, formerly of Sharon, PA passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 6:35 p.m. at John XXIII Home in Hermitage, after an extended illness. He was 81.
Robert was born in Uniontown, PA on May 26, 1935, the son of the late Edward and Nora (Morgan) Whetsel. He graduated from Uniontown High School in 1953.
Robert was a member of IHS Gospel Ministries in Hermitage. He worked as a an installer at the former Bell Telephone (now Verizon) for 39 years. He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins fan.
Robert was the husband of Audrey G. (Chalfant) Whetsel. whom he married on July 7, 1954. She survives him at home. His family includes his three sons, Robert Whetsel and his wife, Cheryl, of Ashburn, VA., Ronald Whetsel and his wife, Deanna, of McKeesport, PA and Richard Whetsel and his wife Erin, of Nashville, TN, his grandchildren, Eric, Ryan, Aryn, Emily, and Lilly and his great-grandchildren, Ethan and Vivian, along with a brother, James Whetsel and his wife Janet, of Deland, FL. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Golden.

At his request there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146. at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15th, 2016, with Rev. Charles Eckles of IHS Gospel Ministries officiating. Interment at Mt. Washington Cemetery, Jefferson twp. PA.
