Mr. Robert J. Vitello Sr., age 78, of 338 1/2 Ellsworth St. Sharon, died peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2012 ,at 6:45 a.m. in the VA Health Care Center, Butler PA, after an extended illness.
Mr. Vitello Sr. was born in Sharon, PA on August 16, 1933, the son of the late Alexander and Mary (Horvath) Vitello. He attended Brookfield (OH) Schools. Robert served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He had worked as inspector and a welder at the former General American Transportation Corp. Masury,OH., for over 18 years and had also had owned a plastering business at one time. Robert enjoyed fishing , taking the family for rides, doing ceramics, and spending time with his family. He was of the Catholic faith and was known as "Dad" to many.
He was the widower of Patricia A. (Pollock) Vitello, whom he married on November 15, 1952. She died May 12, 2008.
He is survived by two daughters, Patricia A. MacElroy-Sok and her companion, Robert Phillips and Kathleen L. Yesko and her husband John, all of Sharon, PA. and two sons, Robert J. Vitello Jr. and his wife, Grace, of Masury, OH and Donald D. Vitello and his companion, Wendy Scheldemantle, of Sharpsville, PA.
Also surviving are two sisters, Carol Bogner and her husband, John, of Raleigh, NC, and Dr. Elaine Vitello and her companion, Larry, of Carbondale, IL along with 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Also included are his three best friends, Jake Germond of Valencia, CA, Tom, Sok, of Texas, and James Bugg of Sharon, PA.
Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceeded in death by a son, Michael Anthony Vitello, a grandson, Michael Anthony Vitello Jr. and his sister, Elanor Warner.

Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 24th, with Rev. Jeff Harter of Saints Peter and Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Sharon officiating. Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park Hermitage, PA.
