Richard Wiles, Sharon, PA, passed away peacefully on Wed., Jan. 21, 2015 at 4:12 p.m. in Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Pittsburgh, PA after a brief illness. He was 88.
Mr. Wiles was born in Rowlsburg, WV on April 16, 1926, the son of the late Harry and Mabel (Trutle) Wiles. He was a Seaman 1st Class U.S. Navy veteran of WWII serving on the USS Belle Grove in the Pacific Theater.
Richard was a member of St. Stanislaus Holy Trinity Church PA., Before the merger of St. Stanislaus & Holy Trinity Churches, Richard was a very active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, being a trustee and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the National V.F.W., The Sharon American Legion, Post 299, the Sawhill Retirees Association, and a founding member of the Family & Friends Fantasy Football League for 26 years. Loving camping, he was a member of the Plantation Park Association in Mercer, PA He was an avid reader who was a kind and gentle soul who will be missed by all who knew him.
Richard had worked as pipefitter at former Sawhill Tubular Products Sharon, PA., for over 30 years retiring in 1988.
He was the widower of Mary Margaret "Peggy" (Shortencarrier) Wiles. whom he married on Aug. 28, 1954. She died on Oct. 30, 1996. Surviving are his two daughters, Susan L. Janosko and her husband, Paul, of McMurray, PA, Patricia A. Bears and her husband, Michael, of Sandy Lake, PA, two sons, Robert J. Wiles, and his wife, Stacey, of Pulaski, PA and Randy E. Wiles, and his wife, Ann, of Hermitage, PA. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. along with two brothers, Thomas Wiles and his wife, Jean, of Butler, PA and Fred Wiles of California and a sister-in-law, Catherine Shortencarrier, of North Cambria, PA. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard H. Wiles, who died on 1/19/1973, and his brother, Harry Wiles.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 2:00-6:00p.m. at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St,Sharon, PA 16146 .
A Mass of Christian Burial at at St. Stanislaus Kostka Holy Trinity Church , Sharon, PA. at 10:30a.m. on Monday, January 26th, with Rev. Charles Skinner, Retired Priest officiating.
