Raymond Joseph Weeks

Raymond Joseph Weeks, of Hermitage, PA, passed away on June 21, 2017 at 1:30 a.m. in UPMC Horizon Hospital in Farrell, PA, after an extended illness. He was 94.
Mr. Weeks was born in Warren, Ohio on May 14, 1923, the son of the late Raymond and Doris B. (Suain) Weeks. He was a 1941 graduate of Sharpsville High School where he played basketball and football.
He had worked as purchasing agent at the former Westinghouse plant in Sharon for several years, except for the time he was interrupted by serving his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII, returning to work at the plant after being honorably discharged and after brief periods of working at companies in Cleveland and Brookfield, OH and Reading, PA. In 1981, he worked at the Westinghouse Alamo Plant as a procurement specialist, while residing in Jackson, TN, then retiring in 1990.
Ray was an avid antique collector throughout his life. He was of the Methodist faith. He was the widower of Barbara E. (DeMuth) Weeks who passed away in 2002. He is survived by his five children, Elizabeth Ann Careless and her husband Don, of Genesee, PA, Mary Arden Jones and her husband Stephen, of Cincinatti, OH, Claudia Jean Huntzinger and her husband Ross, of Ulysses, PA, Rev. Robert Louis Weeks and his wife Cathy, of Indianapolis, IN, and William Raymond Weeks and his wife Dana, of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and 7 great- grandchildren.
Ray's passing also leaves a void in the lives of close local friends who were like family to him including Elaine Palisin, of Hermitage and her family, whose great-grandchildren called him "Papa Ray", and his two furry friends, Zoey and Lucy, all of whom will miss him very much. Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his grandson, William Robert "Billy" Weeks, and his sister, Sara McMurray.

At his request there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Cremation services provided by the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA.
