Phillip D. "Bud" Watkins, of Sharon, PA, passed away unexpectedly in the ER of Sharon Regional Health System on Jan. 8, 2018 after an extended illness. He was 82.
Phillip was born in Farrell, PA on May 5, 1935, the son of the late Theodrick and Christina (Lee) Watkins. Marion Watkins helped raise him after his mother passed away at an early age. He graduated from Farrell High School in 1954 and went on to honorably serve his country in the U.S. Air Force.
He had worked as a pipe tester at Sawhill Tubular Plant for many years retiring in 1995. Bud was an avid Steelers fan. He enjoyed music, spending time with his family, especially around the holidays and he loved his country very much.
On Oct. 5, 1979, he married Estella (Root) Watkins. She survives him at home. Also surviving are his two daughters, Tracy Root and her companion Marvin Woods and Estella Peterson & her husband, Kenneth
his two sons, Buddy Root and his wife Marlia Straussberger and Phillip Root, all of Sharon, PA, 22 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a sister, Barbara Phillips of Sharon, PA, his two aunts, Virginia Price, of Farrell, PA. and Norma "Pooch" Root, an uncle, Donald Lee, of Sharon, PA, and a long-time friend, Carl Somerset, of Sharon, PA.

Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 15th, with Elder Linda Moss-McDougall of the Greater New & Living Way Temple of Sharon officiating. Military Honors will be presented at the funeral home by the Farrell, Wheatland, West Middlesex Honor Guard
