Paul J. Rogers

Mr. Paul J. Rogers, age 80, of 50 Reno Road (Jefferson twp.) Hermitage, PA died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 at 9:55 a.m. at UPMC Hospital, Farrell after an extended illness.
Mr. Rogers was born in Oil City, PA on December 10, 1930, the son of the late Thomas Rogers Sr. and Goldie (Beers) Rogers. Paul served his country by being in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He had been an active member of Charleston United Methodist Church in Hermitage, PA., having been a trustee for many years and had served on the building committee.
He had worked as an attendant in the store dept. at Penn Power retiring in 1994.. In his younger years, he had worked at the former Greenville Steel Car Co. in Greenville and at the former Westinghouse plant in Sharon.
Paul was a member of the Sharpsville American Legion Post #162. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and gardening. Paul was a gentle, soft-spoken man who was always willing to help anyone in need and was a friend to all who knew him.
He was the husband of Reva M. (Stright) Rogers. whom he married on May 27, 1967. She survives at home. He is also survived by his son, Brian P. Rogers and his wife Cari, and his grandchildren, Elysse, Karina, Conner, and Caleb all of Clark, PA. and his sister, Beatrice Linn and her husband, Fred of California. Besides his parents, he was preceeded in death by his sister, Ruth Fox and his brothers, Thomas "June" Rogers Jr., Frad Rogers, Herbert Rogers, and an infant brother.
Donations may be made to the Charleston United Methodist Church, 1156 Greenfield Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.
At his request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced..
Interment at Mount Washington Cemetery in Jefferson twp. PA.
