Paul Ralston Darlington Iii

Paul Ralston Darlington III, of Arlington, VA formerly of Sharpsville and New Wilmington, PA died on Dec. 1, 2016 in INOVA Fairfax, VA Hospital, Falls Church, VA. He was 67. He was born on Jan. 15, 1949, in Sharon, PA to Paul Ralston Darlington Jr. and Alice Marie Fye Darlington. After Paul graduated from Sharpsville High School, he entered the U.S. Air Force in 1968, serving for four years as a staff sergeant. Paul then went on to receive his bachelor's of science degree in law enforcement administration from Youngstown State University. He then received his masters of education degree in sociology and counseling in 1994 for Wesminster College. Paul also attended Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government specializing in Crisi Management: Exercising Leadership in Extraordinary Times. While living in Sharpsville, Paul worked as the park administrator for the F.H. Buhl Farm Trust. He went on to become assistant dean for student affairs and public safety at Westminster College from 1991 to 1998. Paul retired from VeriSign in July of 2011, as the senior manager of physical security, then went on to work and have a second retirement from Sprint Nextell as security manager. Other highlights of Paul's career were working for Dickinson College as director of public safety and at the Seed School, Washington DC, as the director of operations. Paul was the beloved husband of Linda D. Darlington, loving and devoted father of Paul R. Darlington IV, of Sharpsville, Jenny R. Darlington, of Arlington, proud grandfather of Simon P.R. Darlington, son-in-law of Donald and Irene Urey of Hermitage, nephew of Patricia O'Brien of Sharon, and Samuel Fye of Sharpsville. He will also be dearly missed by nephews, nieces, and cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A graveside service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to the Development Office at Westminster College, 319 S.
