Nicholas Butchko, of Trace Street, Hermitage, PA formerly of Tamplin Street, Sharon, passed away at 12:55 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, in Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. He was 84.
Nicholas was born in Wheatland, PA on October 23, 1929, the son of the late Stephen Butchko Sr. and Anna (Jurak) Butchko. He was a 1947 graduate of Farrell High School. He served in the U.S. Marines as a Sgt during the Korean War. He had worked as a lineman at Penn Power for 33 years.
In his younger years, he was a baseball player who excelled at pitching. For many years he called bingo at the Wheatland American Legion #432 of which he was a member. He also was a member of the Shenango Valley Marine Corp. League $632. He was of the Orthodox faith..
He is survived by his brother, Michael Butchko of Sharon, PA along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Anne Nettinger and Veronica Bakmaz and two brothers, Stephen Butchko Jr. and John Butchko.

Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, PA. at 11:00a.m. on Friday, November 15th, with Chaplin Cary Parsons officiating. Military honors will be presented at the funeral home by the Wheatland American Legion, Post 432,& the West Middlesex VFW Post 6233 Honor Guard. Interment at St. John's Orthodox Cemetery Hermitage, PA.
