Matthew Harakal, age 53, of Paoli, IN, formerly of Hartford, OH, passed on February 15, 2024, from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident.
Born June 16, 1970 in Warren, OH, he is the son of the late Thomas Harakal and Betty (Maybee) Loyd. His mother survives in Deerfield Beach Florida.
Matthew attended Hartford/ Badger Schools. He went on to get his culinary degree from Johnson and Wales University (Miami, FL,) in 1991.
Matthew loved and excelled at cooking, he was the former owner and executive chef of 21 North Eatery and Cellar, in Martinsville, IN, and continued his culinary talents at the Che Bello Restaurant in Bloomington, IN.
In addition to cooking and food, Matthew loved music, spending time with his family and fur babies.
Matthew is survived by his "Anam Cara", Tina Tate, a sister, Stacey Takash, a brother Thomas Harakal, two nieces, Rebecca Garrett and Ashley Coonce, two nephews, Joseph (Megan) Pratchler and John Takash, great nieces and nephews, Joshlynn, McKenna his godchild, Ozzie and JR, his blended Loyd family and caring aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Melissa Moore, a brother Andrew Harakal, his grandparents Claire and Blanche "Gege" Potter and Jesse and Rita Maybee and his step-father, James Loyd.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM in St. John's Episcopal Church, 226 W. State Street, Sharon, Pa. with Fr. Adam Trambley officiating.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Matthew at Tiffany's Banquet Hall, 601 Bedford Road S.E., Brookfield, OH, 44403, immediately following the service.
Arrangements are being handled by the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home LLC, 264 E. State Street, Sharon, PA, 16146.
