Mary E. Violante, age 86, of 110 Fredonia Rd., Greenville, PA, formerly of Woodrow Court in Sharon, PA died peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2012, at 10:51 p.m., at Whitecliffe Nursing Home in Greenville, (West Salem twp),PA, after an extended illness.
Mary was born in Sharon, PA on November 30, 1925, the daughter of the late Peter and Esther (Spangler) Brannan. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sharon Sharon, PA., where she had been a member of the former quilting group. She had worked as a waitress at Squaw Creek Country Club in Vienna, OH.,and at the former Dinner Bell in Sharon in her younger years. She had also been a dog groomer at one time.
Mary enjoyed sewing, quilting, and spending time with her family. While raising her family, she was active in the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts organizations.
She was the wife of Leon "Lee" Violante. whom she married on May 21, 1949. He died on November 22, 1999.
Her survivors include her daughters, Vinnie E. O'Connor and Marlee A. Violante of Sharon, PA and her son, L. Joseph Violante and his wife Linda, of Hermitage, PA. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceeded in death by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild along with her sister, Anna Lane and her brother, Albert Brannan.
