Mary Ellen Sainsbury

Mary Ellen Sainsbury, of Gibsonia, PA, formerly of Sharon, PA passed away in her home on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 5:56 a.m. after an extended illness. She was 97.
Mary Ellen was born in Sharon, PA on September 22, 1919, the daughter of the late William and Edna Rose (Billings) Fleming.
She was a member of St. Catherine's of Sweden Church in Allison Park, PA, When she lived in the Sharon area,, she was a member of St. Joseph's Church.
Mary Ellen enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was the widow of Trevor Sainsbury, whom she married on June 8, 1937. He died in 1992. She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Lowery of Mars, PA, and Kathleen Sainsbury of Gibsonia, PA, and her son,, Dr. James Sainsbury and his wife Andrea, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL along with her grandchildren, Dr. Christen Herndon and her husband Joseph, Dr. Jennifer Brauser and her husband Aaron, Dr. James Trevor Sainsbury, Melissa Sullivan, and William Leland Sainsbury and his wife, Seva, and her great-grandchildren, Sophia Herndon, William Herndon, Nathaniel Brauser, Lily Brauser, Gabriel Brauser, Ethan Sullivan, Sean Sullivan, Erin Sainsbury, and Eva Sainsbury.
Besides her parents and her husband, She was preceded in death by her brothers, William Fleming II, Gerald Fleming, and John Fleming.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Hemophilia Center of Pittsburgh, 3636 Blvd. of the Allies, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 or to St. Catherine's Church of Sweden, 2554 Wildwood Rd., Allison, Park, PA, 15101.
Private family visitation will take place. Funeral Service on Friday, June 23, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakwood Cemetery Chapel, Sharon, PA with Rev. Ted Martin, Sr. Pastor of Hampton Presbyterian Church, Gibsonia, officiating. Burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA. Condolences to the family may be expressed by visiting stevensonfuneralhome.net.
