Mary L. Hough

Mary L. (Rust) Hough, age 88, formerly of Hermitage, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at her residence in Greenville, PA, with her loving daughters by her side.
Mary was born in Albany, NY, on September 4, 1932, the daughter of the late Leon H. and Mary (Seybold) Rust.
She married Evan R. Hough on August 24, 1957, and he preceded her in death on August 28, 2008.
Mary was a 1951 graduate of Sharpsville High School and then received a degree from the Shenango Valley Commercial Institute. She worked for both the former General Electric Plant in Warren, OH, and The Department of Labor and Industry in the Shenango Valley.
Mary was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church for over 54 years and belonged to its Presbyteer's Sunday School Class, Senior Fellowship and Chancel Choir.
In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. She loved baking pies and sending cards to friends and family. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years and belonged to the Reynold's Friday Retirees Bowling League. Mary loved her family and friends and loved spending time with them.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Terri Ghiates of Greenville, PA, and Mary Criss Garrett and her husband Fred of New Wilmington, PA, two sisters, Adrienne Elaine Powell of Burghill, OH, and Grace Knapp (Eugene) of Sharpsville, PA, a brother John L. (Dorothy) Rust, of Greenville, PA, a sister-in-law, Rebecca Rust, of Dalton,PA, five grandchildren, Michael P. Ghiates, Kyle E. Ghiates, Corry J. Garrett, Dr. Cayl L. (Sehee) Garrett and Cylind K. (Morgan) Garrett and two great-grandchildren, Coda R. Kuykendall and Arra Belle Garrett.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son Evan W. Hough, a grandson, Cody L. Kuykendall, a brother, Rev. Gerald Rust, a step-brother, Lawrence Butler and his wife Araminta, a step-sister, Carol Reed, a son-in-law, Peter Ghiates and a brother-in-law, Chester Powell.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sharon, PA, for visitation, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM from the church with the Rev. Rick Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to either, Covenant Presbyterian Church, 263 E. State Street, Sharon, Pa. 16146, or Sharon Regional Hospice, 1955 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage, Pa. 16148.
