Mary Kathryn Bartholomew, age 74, of 4041 Tamarack Drive Sharpsville, died peacefully on Sunday, March 4, 2012, at 12:40 p.m. , in Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, after a brief illness..
Mary Katherine was born in Sharon, PA on January 9, 1938, the daughter of the late Raymond and Anna (Donak) Butch. She attended the former Sacred Heart School in Sharon and went on to graduate from Sharon High School in 1955. She was a member of St. Bartholomew's Church Sharpsville, PA.
Mary Kathryn was a homemaker, but in her younger years, she had worked at the former M & M Bank and at the former Westinghouse plant , both in Sharon. She enjoyed cleaning, reading novels, bird watching, gambling, taking care of her dogs, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
On September 9, 1958, she married James L. Bartholomew. He survives at home. Her family includes her daughter, Lea Anne DuMars, and her son, Gerry Bartholomew and his wife, Laurie, all of of S. Pymatuning twp., PA and five grandchildren, Casey and Aaron DuMars, Katie Milo and her husband, John, and Stacy and Brooke Bartholomew. Also surviving are her brother, Mark Butch and his wife, Darlene , of Hermitage, PA. Besides her parents, she was preceeded in death by her son, Marc R. Bartholomew and her son-in-law, William DuMars.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Humane Society of Mercer County, 3005 East State St., 16148 or to St. Bartholomew's Church, 321 W. Ridge Ave., Sharpsville, PA 16150.
Friends are invited to call Wednesday, March 7, 2012, from 4:00 till 7:00p.m. at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State Street, Sharon, PA 16146.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Bartholomew's Church, Sharpsville, PA. at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 8th, 2012 with Rev. Mark Stockton, pastor and and Rev. John Lynch, retired pastor officiating. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage , Pa.
