The family is saddened to announce the death of Marsue Rene Samol, of Greenville, Pa, formerly of Masury, OH, on Sunday, April 26, at 8:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Continuing Care Community, in Greenville, after an extended illness. She was 85.
Marsue was born in Sharpsville, PA on July 14, 1929, the daughter of the late Chalmers and Grace A. (Beckman) Schell. She was a 1947 graduate of Hubbard High School.
On June 5, 1953, She married the love of her life, William Samol. He died on Aug. 23, 2011
She was a homemaker, but before her marriage, she had worked at the former Protected Home Circle in Sharon. Marsue was an exceptional baker who was known for her breads, pastries, kolachi, and pies which would fill her dining room during the holidays. She generously shared them with friends and family. Marsue liked flower gardening, and especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters. She was of the Christian faith.
She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Funelli, of Masury, OH, and Laurie Walsh, and her husband, Matthew, of Westfield, IN, her four granddaughters, Kristen Funelli and Rachel, Becca, and Sarah Walsh, and her brother, Chalmers Schell Jr., of Newark OH.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at St. Pauls' and St. Paul's Without Walls for their compassion and care during Marsue's illness.
Friends are invited to call , Thursday, April 30, from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m. at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home., 264 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, PA. at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1st, with Rev. William Kirker, Chaplain of St. Paul's officiating. Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park Hermitage, PA.
