Mrs. Loretta Jean(Barker) DeSantis, 79, of 337 Jefferson Ave. Sharon, PA died peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2012 at 6:25 p.m.in Nugent Convalescent Home in Hermitage, PA after a brief illness..
She was born in Sharon, PA on June 28, 1932, the daughter of the late James Edward Barker Sr. and Grace Anna (Barrett) Barker. Loretta was a graduate of Hickory High School. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church , Sharon, PA.
Loretta was known as "The Cemetery Lady" as she had co-authored the Cemetery Inscription Books of Mercer County. Loretta was a member of the Patagonia Firemans Ladies Auxillary, the Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War (DUV), the Grand Army of the Republic, and the Mercer County Geneological Society. She enjoyed crocheting and doing needlepoint.
She was the wife of Americus J. DeSantis Sr. whom she married on July 7, 1951. He survives at home. Also survivng are her daughter, Johanna Reed of Sharon, PA.and two sons, Americus "Joe" J. DeSantis and his wife , Terri Geever of Pittsburgh, PA.,and Francis J. DeSantis of Sharon, PA, her five grandsons, Edward DeSantis, Jason Parish, Trevor Reed, and twins, Michael and John DeSantis, along with a sister, Paula Orndorff and her husband, Thomas, of Hamburg, PA. and brothers, Jack Barker and his wife, Kate of Hermitage,PA., and Richard "Butch" Barker of Ravenna, OH, two sister-in-laws, Gina Barker and Rose DeSantis both of Hermitage, PA and a brother-in-law, Angelo Trinckes, of Brookfield, OH. Besides her parents, she was preceeded in death by her daughter, Victoria Parish and an infant daughter, Ann Marie DeSantis, a brother, James E, Barker Jr. and two sisters, Patricia Trinckes and Alice Canale.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Shenango Valley Community Library, Sharpsville Ave., Sharon, PA 16146

At her request, there will be no visitation. Funeral service at St. Rose Cemetery Chapel, Hermitage, PA, Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at 10:00a.m., with Rev. Glenn Whitman of St. Joseph's Catholic Church ,officiating. Interment at St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage, PA.
