Leroy John Spangler

LeRoy John Spangler, 87, of Sharpsville, PA, passed away peacefully on Tues., Aug. 26, 2014 at 9:23 p.m. in his residence, after a brief illness. He was 87.
Mr. Spangler was born in Clark, PA on November 18, 1926, the son of the late John and Mabel Miller. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman Ist Class in WW II. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, in Sharon, PA. He had worked as carpenter at Carpenters Local #268 for 50 years, last working for Ferro Construction, for a number of years. He had also worked as a policeman and was Chief of Police for Jefferson twp. for 21 years.
LeRoy had worked with the Boy Scout Troop # 62, through the church in his younger years. He was a member of the Hickory VFW, post 6166, the Sharpsville American Legion, Post 162, the Transfer, Pa F.O.P., the Police Chief's Association of Cory, PA, and the United Commercial Travelers (UCT).
He was the husband of Wanda P. (Eckles) Spangler. whom he married on May 15, 1948. She survives at home. He is also survives by his daughter, Patricia Weatherholt, and her husband, David, of Sharon, PA., his two sons, Arthur Spangler, and his wife, Cathy, of Mercer, PA., and Charles Spangler of Regensburg, Germany. he is also survived by a brother, Leonard "Tony" Manfredi, and his wife Chita, of Willoughby, OH, along with 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Spandin, and two brothers, Nello Monfredi and Wade Dilley.

Friends are invited to call Friday , Aug. 29, 2014 from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m, at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, PA. at noon on Saturday, August 30th, with Rev. Adam T. Trambley of St. John' Episcopal Church officiating. Interment at Mount Washington Cemetery Jefferson twp., PA, with Military Honors provided by the Hickory VFW, Post 6166, Honor Guard.
