Leo A. Griffin, of Sharon, PA, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, at 4:59 a.m., after a brief illness. He was 83.
Leo was born in Sharon, PA on October 26, 1932, the son of the late Roy and Mildred (Allen) Griffin. He was a 1951 graduate of Sharon High School. Leo served his country by being in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He had worked as an assistant manager at the former Ohio Bell in Liberty twp., OH, for 36 years, retiring in 1991.
Leo was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sharon, where he was a member of the Presbyteers Sunday School Class. He enjoyed doing geneology, traveling, and being with his family.
He was the husband of Olivia A. (Miller) Griffin. whom he married on Dec. 27, 1957. She survives him at home. Also surviving are his daughter, Susan Gordon of Carrollton, TX, his sons, Dennis Griffin, and his wife, Nancy, of Natick, Mass, Robert Griffin, and his wife, Leslie, of Katy, TX, and Timothy Griffin and his wife, Kathryn, of Hermitage, PA and seven grandchildren, Matthew Griffin, Christopher Griffin and his wife, Nicole, Stephanie Griffin, Jeffrey Griffin, Heather Griffin, Brianna Griffin, and Victoria Gordon. He is also survived by two sisters, Doris Steiner, and her husband William, of Sharpsville, PA, and Elaine Parry, of Sharon, PA, and his brother, Cecil Griffin, also of Sharon, PA. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Erma Baker and an infant sister.
Donations in his memory may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 263 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Private family visitation and funeral service will take place on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA, with Rev. Jason Minter, pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church & Rev. David Davis, retired Methodist minister officiating. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery Hermitage, PA.
