Larry E. Long

Larry E. Long, age 75, of Hermitage, PA formerly of Mercer, PA passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024, in UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle, PA after an extended illness.

Born October 24, 1949, in Grove City, PA, he was the son of the late Paul and Zenedean (Bashline) Long.  He married the former Nancy Karsonovich on February 14, 1970, and she survives at home.

Larry was a 1967 graduate of Farrell High School and served his country honorably as a PFC in the Army during Vietnam.  He worked 20 years for Sharon Steel and 15 years for Sharon Tube in Niles, OH, before retiring in 2012.

He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and hunting.  He was a member of the Benevolent Protective Oder of Elks Lodge 103 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1336 both in Sharon.  He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins fan.

Besides his wife, Larry is survived by a daughter, Jennifer (Sean) Miller, a son, Larry C. Long, a brother, Robert (Darlene) Long and a grandson, Brandon James Miller, all of Mercer and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Long and a sister-in-law, Barbara Long Craig.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday (12-4-24) from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home LLC, 264 E. State Street, Sharon, PA  16146.

A small service from Sharon Elks Lodge 103 will be held at 6:45 p.m. in the funeral home.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
