Kenneth E. Shaffer

Mr. Kenneth E. Shaffer, age 68, of 715 Harbor Creek, New Castle, PA, formerly of 716 Theresa Ave., Hermitage, PA peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2011 in Silver Oaks Nursing Home in New Castle, PA after an extended illness.
Mr. Shaffer was born in Sharpsville, PA on July 26, 1943, the son of the late Walter and Anna Mae (Holzapfel) Shaffer. He had worked as a foreman at the former Shenango Inc. Sharpsville., retiring in 1993. He had previously worked at Applied Refractories in Indianapolis, IN.
Kenneth enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching Nascar Racing. He attended Bethany Presbyterian Church in Mercer, PA for several years.
He was the husband of Cathy A. (Hutson) Shaffer. whom he married on April 1, 1977. She survives in Hermitage, PA. Other survivors include his son, John K. Shaffer also of Hermitage, PA and his daughter, Mindy Crenshaw of Antelope, CA. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Templeton of Hermitage, PA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceeded in death by two sisters, Marcella Zabych and Shirley Stambaugh along with his brother, Robert W. Shaffer.
