Joseph F. Fragle, of Sharon, passed away on Wed., Dec. 7, 2016, at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, after a brief illness. He was 70.
Joe was born in Sharon, PA on August 2, 1946, the son of the late Joseph A. and Stella (Siciliano) Fragle.
He graduated from Sharon High School in 1964 and went on to serve as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Security Agency in Asmara, Ethiopia from 1965-1969.
He had worked as a transportation supervisor at Primary Health Charitable Foundation in Sharon. In years past, he had served as a City Councilman and Community Development Director for the city of Sharon for several years and also served as a Mercer County Commissioner. He had also worked for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad, Shenango Inc. and GATX. Joe was the original owner of Our Gang's Lounge and had been a manager for the Italian Home in Farrell.
Joe was a member of the Sharon American Legion, Post 299, the Shenango Valley V.F.W., Post 1338, and the Slovenian Home in Sharon. He was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia (DePreta) Fragle whom he married on January 11, 2011, his daughter, Kristie Black and her husband Jeremy, of Corydon, IN, his son, Joseph A. Fragle II of Sharon, PA, his step-daughter, Sierra DeJulia , his step-son, Dakota DeJulia , both of Sharon, PA, three grandchildren, Arianna, Amara and Alexandre Black, his sister, Carrie Laslow and her husband Robert,and his sister-in-law, Rosanne Fragle, all of Sharon, PA, and 4 nieces, Julie Grasso, June Gulla, Gina Schweiss, and Nicole Sims. Several cousins also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard P. Fragle.
A Gathering Time will be held on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m. at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146. At his request, there will be no services.. Cremation took place.
