John M Reed

John M. Reed, of Sharon, PA died unexpectedly on Feb. 16, 2016, at 6:59 a.m., in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System after becoming ill at home. He was 81.
John was born in Sharon, PA on June 30, 1934, the son of the late Thomas Reed Sr and Elizabeth (Stuart) Reed and attended Sharon Schools growing up. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Japan and Korea from 1956 till 1958.
John had worked as a skelp feeder at Sawhill Tubular Products for over 43 years. After his retirement, he worked for the Keystone Blind Association in maintenance at the PA rest stop areas. He also worked as a school crossing guard for Sharon Schools. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sharon.
He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Weisen, of Virginia Beach, VA, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Gladys Shuster, Matilda Hassel, Doris Achenbach, and Wilda Reed, along with his brothers, Thomas, Stuart, and Robert Reed.
Donations in his memory may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 263 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
At his request there will be no calling hours or services. Cremation services provided by the funeral home. Private interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Sharon.
