John D. Mattocks, of Clark, PA, passed away in his home on Tues., Feb. 2, 2016 at 3:30 a.m., after a brief illness. He was 77.
John was born in Sharon, PA on December 8, 1938, the son of the late Paul A. and Mildred M. (Hess) Mattocks. He was a 1956 graduate of Sharpsville High School. He went on to serve his country with the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1957 through 1961.
John had worked as a crane operator at the former Trinity Industries in Greenville, PA. Previously, he had worked as a truck driver for the former Peter J. Schmidt Co. and at the former Westinghouse (transformer division) both in Sharon.
John enjoyed playing cards, riding motorcycles, going to casinos, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was of the Methodist faith.
He was the husband of Patricia J. (Reed) Mattocks, whom he married on Sept. 11, 1962. She survives him at home. Also surviving are his daughter, Julie Schultz and her husband, Lonnie, of Greenville, PA, and two sons, John D. Mattocks II, and his fiance', Michelle Nickell, of West Middlesex, PA, and Mark Mattocks, and his wife, Andrea, of Sharon, PA, and his two sisters, Alice Myers and her husband, Lester, and Clara Murchek, all of Avon Lake, FL. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred "Midge" Leyshon, and two brothers, Kenneth and Roger Mattocks.

A Gathering Time will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, from 2:00 till 4:00 p.m. at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146 .
Memorial Service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, PA. at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6th, with Rev. Richard Carlson, of the Oakland Ave. Methodist Church officiating. Cremation services provided by the funeral home.
