John Koborie

John Koborie, Sharon, Pa, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning , March 16, 2015 at Sharon Regional Health System. He was 89.
John was born in Sharon, PA on January 8, 1926, the son of the late Michael and Julianne (Duruttya) Koborie. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 and was active in the Army Reserves until 1965.
John was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church Sharon, PA, where he had served as an elder and was a past member of the Chancel Choir. He had previously been an active member of the former Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Sharon. He had worked as tool and dye maker at former Packard Electric in Warren, OH., for over 20 years. He had previously worked at the former McKay Machine Co. in Youngstown, Ohio for 17 years.
John was Past President of the Sharon Band Boosters and he sang with the Shenango Valley Chorale. In his younger years, he was a coach for the Sharon American Little League and was a volunteer for 20 years for both Meals on Wheels and the Sharon Regional Hospital Auxiliary. He was an avid sports fan, especially baseball and was a great supporter of the Sharon Athletics program. He also enjoyed bowling, being a member of several area bowling leagues. He was a member of the Shenango Valley VFW Post 1338 and the Sharon American Legion post 299. He truly enjoyed Buhl Park and walked 5 miles a day there often.
He was the husband of Julianne E. (Yendrek) Koborie whom he married on Nov. 15, 1952. She survives at home. Also survivng are his daughter, Teresa "Terri" Roberts, and her husband Philip, of Bangor, Maine, and his two sons, John M."Jay" Koborie and his wife, Rhonda, of Sharon, PA., and Timothy R. Koborie and his wife, Eileen, of Talmadge, OH. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, along with his sister, Julianne and brothers, Michael and Stephen. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Lee Koborie who died on Sept. 11, 2001 in the World Trade Center in New York, and his sister Ann.

Friends are invited to call Friday, March 20, 2015 from 5:00-7:00p.m. at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Funeral service at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon PA on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jason Minter, of Covenant Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Sharon with Military honors presented by the Sharon Honor Guard.
