John R. Cheplick, 76, of 545 Dutch Lane, Hermitage, PA died peacefully on Friday, April 6, 2012 at 11:15 a.m. in Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness.
Mr. Cheplick was born in Hermitage, PA on October 19, 1935, the son of the late Walter Cheplick Sr. and Emma (Benic) Cheplick. He was a 1953 graduate of Hickory High School. He went on to serve his country serving as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army,101st Airborn Division, from 1957-1958. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1963. He was a member of Church of the Sacred Heart in Sharon, PA.
He had worked as a general foreman at AK Steel(formerly Sawhill Tubular Products) Sharon,PA., for over 30 years. John enjoyed fishing and boating and served on the board of the Pymatuning Outboard Motor Club for many years. He was a Pittsburgh sports enthusiast who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandson.
He was the husband of Veronica M. (Reardon) Cheplick. whom he married on June 17, 1961. She survives him. Also survivng are his daughter, Lita Gresley of Sharon, PA and his grandson, Scott Gresley and his two grandaughters, Julie and Rachael Gresley and his great-grandson, Brady Tarpenning and his sister, Mildred Bosela,of Lowellville,OH. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families. Besides his parents, he was preceeded in death by his sister, Helen Peidle and his two brothers, Walter Cheplick Jr. and Joseph Cheplick.

Funeral service at Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, PA. at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 12th, with Rev. Henry Andrae officiating. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Hickory VFW Post 6166 Honor Guard at St. Mary's Cemetery Hermitage, Pa.
