Johanna "Jo Ann" "Toots" Sopko, of Boardman, OH, formerly of Sharon, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, at 6:15 a.m. at Assumption Village, N. Lima, OH, after a brief illness. She was 94.
Jo Ann was born in Sharon, PA on September 16, 1922, the daughter of the late Fredrick and Johanna (Theiss) Roth.
As a homemaker, Toots loved to crochete, sew, read, bake and spend time with her family. She had a love for animals and enjoyed watching the Animal Planet channel on TV. She was of the Lutheran faith.
On June 22, 1938, she married John Sopko Jr. He passed away in 1979. Her surviving family includes her daughter, Darlene Brestelli and her husband, Paul, of Boardman, OH, and her sons, Ronald Sopko and his wife Nancy, of Estero, FL, Richard Sopko and, his wife Althea, of Genesco, IL and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Min Dyll, of Hermitage, PA. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Carl, William, and Fred Roth.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m., at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St, Sharon, PA 16146.
Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, PA. at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 10th, with Rev. Michael L. Lozano of Christ Lutheran Church, Sharon officiating. Interment at America's Cemetery, Hermitage, PA.
