James R Stanton
James R. " Jimmy " Stanton, age 74, of Transfer, PA, passed away on Saturday , September 1st, 2018, in UPMC Jamison Hospital in New Castle. Born March 21, 1944 in Sharon, PA, he was the son of the late James L. and Peggy Lou Hunter Stanton Zeronas. He married the former Sharron Tillery on June 10th, 1972 and she survives at home.
Jimmy graduated from Sharon High School in 1962 and served in the U.S. Navy during both Vietnam and the Cuban Missal Crisis, he was in the Seabee's division and was in charge of a Mobile Construction Battalion Unit. Upon his discharge from the service he owned and operated Jim's Sunoco Station in Sharon from 1966 to 1968 and then went to work for Packard Electric as a service technician for 36 years until his retirement in 2004.
Jimmy loved going fishing with his brothers-in-law up on Lake Erie, he also enjoyed wood working, tinkering with his old truck and car, playing with his dog Nittany, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren, Rylie and Eric
.
He was a member of both the Reynolds VFW and the NRA and attended Central Community Church in Transfer, PA.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son Brian James Stanton and his fiancee' Carolyn Wansack of Transfer, a brother Anthony B. ( Susan ) Zeronas II of Transfer and two grandchildren Rylie and Eric Stanton.
He was preceded in death by two sisters , Mandy Andres and an infant sister Annie and his step-father Anthony B. Zeronas I.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 4:00 pm til 7:00 pm at the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home LLC, 264 E. State Street, Sharon, Pa. 16146. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm from the funeral home with the Rev. Bill Brownlee officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Full military honors will be performed by the Reynolds V.F.W. Honor Guard.
