James A. Shaffer, of Sharon, PA, passed away on Sept. 21, 2017 at home, after an extended illness. He was 77.
James was born in Sharon, PA on August 27, 1940, the son of the late James W. and Esther (Black) Shaffer. He was a 1958 graduate of Sharpsville High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army.
He had worked as a lineman at Penn Power for 40 years. James was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to build things, draw and was an amateur artist.
James is survived by his son, James W. Shaffer II, of Sharon, PA, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, his sisters, Linda Klamer of Sharpsville, PA, Carolyn Buchanan of Sharon, PA, Marilyn Bishop of San Antonio, TX, and Ellen Pontius of Mercer, PA, along with his two brothers, William Shaffer of Albion, PA, Fred Shaffer of Mercer, PA and James' companion, Marcia (Leon) Pavlich, of Sharon, PA. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Maria Shaffer Arthur, and a sister Eileen Stull.
At his request there will be no calling hours. Services are private at the convenience of family. Cremation service provided by the funeral home. Funeral arrangement by the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon.
