Jack Edward Dumars Sr.

Jack Edward DuMars Sr., of Mercer, formerly of Sharon, PA, passed away on Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at 7:15 a.m. at Avalon Springs in Mercer, after an extended illness. He was 87.
Jack was born in Sharon, PA on February 27, 1929, the son of the late Lucius and Ruth (Cook) DuMars. He graduated from Sharon High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Jack was a member of the Sharon 1st United Methodist Church. He had worked as plant clerk at the former National Castings in Sharon., for 34 years.
Jack enjoyed all kinds of sports, including golf, and in his younger years, he coached slow pitch softball. He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. He was a member of the Hickory VFW Post 6166.
He married the love of his life, Barbara Ann (Young) DuMars. in June of 1956. She died in 1984.
He is survived by his two sons, Jack E. "Jed" DuMars Jr. and his wife Karen, of Sharon, PA, and Barry DuMars and his wife Patti, of Valrico, FL, his daughter-in-law, LeaAnne DuMars, of S. Pymatuning twp.,PA, his grandchildren, Carrie DuMars, Eric DuMars, Casey DuMars, Aaron DuMars, Matthew DuMars, Amanda Green and her husband, Shaun, and Andrew DuMars along with his three great-grandchildren, Connor and Adeline Green and Nora DuMars. Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, William DuMars and his brother, David DuMars.

Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, PA. at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 9th, with Rev. Douglas Dyson of Sharon 1st Methodist Church officiating.
