Irene J. (Somers) Stewart, age 88, fromerly of Sharpsville, PA, passed away on Friday, November 30th, 2018 at Saint Paul's Health Center, West Salem Twp. PA. Born July 22nd, 1930, she was the daughter of the late James and Alvena Anderson Somers. She married Ellis D. (Bub) Stewart on October 6th, 1951 and he preceded her in death on April 16th, 2011.
Irene graduated from Hickory High School and worked as a bookkeeper for Hersh Exterminating Service , previous to that, she had worked in the office for Sawhill Tubular Company. She was a former member of Sharpsville Presbyterian Church, where she was Treasurer for many years. Irene was Sunday School Superintendent for elementary age,  assisted leading Vacation Bible School and was  a member of the Rebecka Circle. While in Southern California, Irene volunteered for Grace to You. She was also a member of Sharon Alliance Church where she used to be  involved in many church activities. Irene enjoyed shopping with her daughters and friends. Irene always opened her home up to friends and to support a variety of ministries.
She is survived by three daughters, Sherry and her husband Richard Bleier of Charleston SC, Rebecca and her Husband retired Col. Douglas Mastriano of Fayetteville, PA. and Tracy Koven of Sherman Oaks CA, three grandchildren, Leslie (Steven) Hamm, Allyson Bleier and Josiah Mastriano and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by a brother Donald Somers and a sister Patricia Brown.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 3rd, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home LLC, 264 E. State Street, Sharon, PA. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am from the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Weikal officiating. Burial will follow in America's Cemetery.
