Ida E. Newton

Ida E. Newton, of 8221 Lamor Rd., Mercer, PA, formerly of Trace St., Hermitage, passed away peacefully on Sun., May 8, 2016, at 2:31 a.m., in Countryside Convalescent Home, Mercer, after an extended illness. She was 89.
Ida was born in Sharon, PA on October 1, 1926, the daughter of the late Bert O. and Hazel (Fisher) Weston.
She had worked as waitress at John Schuster's Steakhouse Masury, OH, for many years. Ida had been very active with the Shenango Valley VFW Post 1338 Ladies Auxiliary and the Sharon American Legion Post 299 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, playing euchre, and spending time with her family. Ida was of the Presbyterian faith.
She was the widow of Clyde H. Newton, whom she married on June 1, 1946. He died recently on April 22, 2016 . She is survived by her daughter, Martha Faber and her husband, Phil, of Sharpsville, PA, along with her grandchildren, Billie Sue Kaltenbaugh, William J. "BJ" Lloyd III, Jamie L. Mergell, Tracy L. Loutzenhiser, and Stephanie Kephart, along with 12 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Hazel Stafford of Texas., Phyllis Sherman and her husband John, of Greenville, PA., Rosetta Boles and her husband, Raymond, of Mercer, PA. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dianna Lloyd, and her sisters, Lucille Lutton, Betty Weston, Frances Swogger, and Doris Work.

Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, PA. at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11th, with Rev. William Locke of Trinity Methodist Church, Clark, PA officiating. Interment at America's Cemetery, Hermitage, PA.
