Helen H. Latimer

Helen H. Latimer, of Whispering Oaks, 260 S. Buhl Farm Drive ,Hermitage, PA, formerly of New Castle, PA, passed away peacefully at 7:05p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, in her residence after a brief illness. She was 101.
Helen was born in West Pittsburg, PA on January 21, 1913, the daughter of the late John and Suzanna (Lesney) Tomsko. She was a graduate of New Castle High School. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church Sharon, PA.
She had worked at Penn State's Shenango Valley Campus in the Continuing Education Office in Sharon, PA., for 14 years retiring in 1978..
Helen had been a singer in the Sweet Adelines International Group, a volunteer for The Meals on Wheels Program, the American Cancer Society, and the local chapter of The American Red Cross. She was a member of th Sharon Regional Health System Auxiliary, the local chapter of the AARP, the Mercer County Historical Society, and the YMCA in Hermitage.
She was the widow of Donald L. Latimer. whom she married in 1953. He died in 1959.
She is survived by two-step-children, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Adam, Toby, and Michael Tomsko, and 3 sisters, Minnie Friday, Rose Klingensmith, and Margaret Vago.

At her request there will be no calling hours. Services are private at the convenience of family.
