Helen Kantner Hodge, of Greenville, PA, formerly of 15 W. Connelly Blvd., Sharon and Hermitage, PA passed away peacefully on Sat., Aug. 17, 2013 at 1:00 a.m. , in St. Paul's Homes in Greenville after an extended illness. She was 85.
Helen was born in Sharon, PA on February 22, 1928, the daughter of the late William P. and Alice (Kantner) Joy. She had worked as an accounting supervisor at the former Montgomery Ward stores in Sharon, PA and Niles, OH., for 24 years retiring in 1983. She was a member of AARP. Helen enjoyed reading and going on bus trips. She was of Presbyterian faith.
She was the widow of Leonard B. Hodge. whom she married on July 9, 1945. He died on Jan. 12, 1988.
Her survivors include two daughters, Shirley J. Ulrich and her husband, Marcel, of Stella, NC and Margie A. Lucas, and her husband, Jeff , of Greenville, PA, four grandchildren, Lenny Portolese, of Maysville, NC, and Jamie Portolese of McDonald, OH, Tami Levis, of Sharpsville, PA and Scott Lucas of Cleveland, OH, and 7 great grandchildren. Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William I. Joy.
