Helen Banas, of . Hermitage, PA, formerly of Lincoln St and Hall Ave. in Sharon, PA , passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014 at 9:36 p.m. at Hospitality Care Center in Hermitage, after an extended illness. She was 101.
Helen was born in Farrell, PA on August 1, 1913, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Sholtis) Banas. She was a 1932 graduate of Hickory High School. She was one of the oldest members of St. John's Episcopal Church in Sharon.
Helen had worked as a caregiver locally and in Florida and Arizona for many years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and baking.
She is survived by her sisters, Martha Shaw and her husband, Donald L. of Mercer Island, WA., Agnes Conner of Warren, OH., Irene Evans and her husband, Jim, of Pittsburgh, PA., Wilma Ward of Carmel, IN.
and a brother, Joseph Banas and his wife, Joan, of Hermitage, PA. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Stephen and two brothers, Edward and John Banas, and a sister, Mary Ann Ruggles.

Funeral service at St. John's Episcopal Church on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., with Rev. Adam T. Trambley officiating. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery Hermitage, PA. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA.
