Mr. Harry Robert Sherwood, age 92, of 500 Clarksville Rd. Hermitage,PA, formerly of 15 W. Connelly Blvd., Sharon, PA died peacefully on Thursday, November 24, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at Nugent Convalscent Home in Hermitage after an extended illness.
Mr. Sherwood was born in Farrell, PA on March 14, 1919, the son of the late Stanley Sherwood Sr. and Hattie (Myers) Sherwood. He was a 1937 graduate of Farrell High School and then went on to serve in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He was a member of Central Christian Church in Hermitage, PA He had worked as an interior designer at Cagle Furniture Store Lovette, TX., before returning to the valley after retirement. Harry was known for being one of the finest painters of china and ceramics in the area, along with teaching ceramics.
His survivors include a sister-in-law, Arlene Sherwood, of Sharon, PA along with several surviving nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, her was preceeded in death by two sisters, Doris Cambell, and Lois Wolf, and four brothers, Joseph, Stanley Jr., Francis "Butch", and Raymond Sherwood.
Donation in his memory may be made to the Central Christian Church, 218 Meadbrook Rd., Hermitage PA 16148
At his request, there will be no visitation. Private graveside services will take place. Private interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Hermitage, PA
